Baha’u'llah was born in Tehran, Persia, in 1817. He was a follower of the Bab. He had always been kind and generouse to the peoplein His town, and was known as the “Father of the Poor“, when the Bab was killed, many of His followers were tortured, killed or put in to prison, just because they belived in Him. Baha’u'llah was put into chains in a terrible dungeon. Later, Baha’u'llah was sent away as a prisoner with all His family to Iraq, then to Turkey and then to “Akka in the Holy Land“.
In 1863, Baha’u'llah announced that He was the Promised One of all religions whom Bab had talked about. He gave many new laws and ideas for our time. You will have read about some of them in His book. Baha’is are people who follow His teachings, and try to make the world a better place to live in.
